BC Hydro and Natural Resources Canada offer incentives for energy retrofit projects in existing buildings. BCHydro has renewed their efforts in Power Smart to encourage conservation (and thus prevent future capacity expansion). NRCan's program is aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Canada made an international commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6% of 1990 levels by the year 2012.
