Working under BC Hydro’s Power Smart Building Improvements Program, which promotes energy-efficient equipment and technology, Prism was able to help Air Canada reduce their electrical consumption by more than six million kilowatt-hours per year and natural gas consumption by 18,124 GJ. The project included installing high-efficiency lighting throughout the facility, and over 25 variable speed drives which allow pumps and fans to be operated only as needed instead of being fully-loaded at all times. By modernizing equipment, reducing the number of fixtures, improving environmental control, and renewing mechanical and electrical equipment, Air Canada realized a 30% reduction in energy costs for the facility.
