In the early 1990s, Prism provided an energy audit, designs and project management for a comprehensive retrofit. Costs for the projects were $450,000 and the savings were over $80,000 per year. As part of the project, Prism designed, specified and reviewed the installation of a lighting retrofit and a new DDC (direct digital control) system. The system controls all HVAC equipment, monitors temperatures, and controls all lighting in the building. The property manager and/or engineer can access the system remotely to review system operation or use the graphical interface on-site.
In the early 2000s, the next phase of the building upgrade continued with a complete replacement of the HVAC system, including major ducting upgrades and improvements to the outside air systems. Prism prepared CAD drawings of the existing system, determined building load requirements, designed HVAC modifications, and was the project manager for the changes.
